The Long Overdue Theatre Company - Technician - Macbeth Long Overdue are looking for a technician to work on their touring production of Macbeth. Although they have toured the production before this is their third version, with completely revamped costumes, music score, lighting and revamped/rebuilt set. Long Overdue tour all over the UK and Ireland to venues up to approx. 1000 seats. They tour their own lighting rig (complete with intelligent lighting), every show has its own original music score and they revel in the use of pyrotechnics and (particularly by touring standards) large sets. They have always had a great interest in encouraging young people who are just starting out in the business and thus have, previously, taken on young people straight from university. Applicants need not have any professional experience but a professional attitude and a fairly technical mind is a must, and stage management skills are a definite advantage. You must be available from 2nd September until late November (and possibly again in February/March). The work is paid and travel/accommodation included. The 2 week rehearsal period is unpaid but accommodation is provided. This is a great opportunity to gain both experience and further knowledge, but not just as a starter. People have in the past started with Long Overdue and then worked with them on successive tours over a number of years. You will be expected to work well within a close-knit team, both on and off stage, so if you're not of an agreeable nature then please do not apply. Long Overdue has always been a friendly unpretentious company where confidence is appreciated; arrogance is not. |

Leann Jordon "The Long Overdue Theatre Company provided me with my first professional job and my first touring experience. They are a highly professional company to work for and great fun to work with. Their productions are challenging and fast paced with plenty of technical elements to keep you on your toes! They encouraged and helped me learn to various technical aspects and how to adapt a show quickly to fit different venues. After working with the company for several productions I have never had a dull moment and have so many fantastic memories. But be warned they will encourage you to join in with the TLOTC touring tradition of GO 'Beer Team'!!! " Producer - I feel I should point out that the 'Beer Team' mentioned was in fact disbanded in a fit of professionalism. That said, we do still like a pint after the show. |

Rachael Brett "As a young technician just starting out, working as the resident technician for The Long Overdue Theatre Company was the greatest opportunity I could have hoped for. This small, friendly, totally committed company, gave me the experience and training I needed to bridge the gap between my education and the move into the industry full time. My current position in a busy receiving and producing house I owe to Long Overdue and I will always appreciate both the skills and sense of direction they instilled in me." |

Luther Hindley "It didnt take me long to realise that you dont work for Long Overdue, you work with them. This is the most gratifying thing about being a member of the company because, unlike many other mid-scale touring companys, as the 'Techie', you are not just a support member of the team you are very much a part of it. I consider myself very fortunate to have been a part of the history of Long Overdue and I am also very lucky to have come away from it with a number of life-long friends." |
